I classify my novel, "Diablero," as a supernatural thriller, incorporating elements of the horror and action/adventure genres. Some of my influences include Edgar Allen Poe, Edgar Rice Burroughs, C.S. Lewis, H.P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, Rod Serling and Stephen King. Diablero could be marketed to fans of John Saul, James Rollins, Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child or similar authors.
Diablero draws on folklore from the death of Edward Teach and the tales of the Death Defier (Diablero) and H.P. Lovecraft to weave a story of suspense and terror. There's humor, as well, hiding in the dark corners. Diablero weighs in at just over 65,000 words.
I am an advocate of shameless self-promotion and book tours and a believer in the promotional power of Facebook and MySpace. As a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, I use the Internet extensively to promote my music.
I am a full-time daily newspaper journalist and have been published in The Pedestal Magazine, Scary Monsters magazine, Famous Monsters of Filmland and more. I was a bookseller and manager at Waldenbooks for over seven years and have a B.A. in English. I am already at work on a sequel to Diablero.
